Mark, from memory, when we tested your car at westferry, it was at least 120 dB. not a scientific test, but I still remember my ears ringing some time after hehe

No chance unless the track have ridiculously high limits.

MrA - how do you find the de-cat??

Thinking of doing mine - may I therefore ask some questions?

1) Who supplied the de-cat units (was it Larini "test pipes")

2) Did you fit an O2 simulator to fool the ECU?..or do the pipes have holes for the lambda probes?

3) Will it pass the MOT without the CAT's or do you have to re-intall them for the test?

4) How much more noisy is it than with just the Tubi - just "nicely" louder or....OMFG this it too loud!

5) Any extra power noticeable?

If you want to hear the V12 as it should be do it !!!

1) yep, Larini pipes supplied and fitted by Grimaldi

2) the pipes have wholes in them for the sensors

3) mine passed the Mot fine wink

4) Urmmm depends, I haven't had any negative feed back from anyone but it is loud,,,,, although you can hold a conversation in the car it is very loud outside, if your in my neck of the woods give me a shout.

5) it's meant to give a bit more power but the car definitely feels a lot free flowing now and when you get the pipes nice and warm you will get lovely flames from the pipes

I had my Murcie decatted using Larini test pipes 2 years ago. It ran with Tubi back box and Tubi tips. Whilst it sounds great with cats take them off fit the Larini by pass pipes and it sounds god awful seriously. It sounded in fact like a Morris Marina with no back box. I couldnt stand it for more than 2 weeks and had the cats refitted.
I cant understand why the Murcie decatted using this combo sounds so awful. My business partners Gallardo sounds fabulous with this set up.
On my Murcie the windows rattled and so frightened the cat it disappeared for 3 days.
To answer your questions specifically it is much louder, didnt result in 'check engine' lights, it defo wont pass MOT with no cats and I didnt notice any extra power.
I still have the Larini test pipes - if you or anyone else would like to borrow them you are more than welcome - PM me.

Hi simon

If they are the same as the 6.0 I wouldnt mind borrowing them as i have already fitted secondry test pipes. I have noticed extra power by doing that so hopefully more with the primary.

Simon, how does the sound of the lp640 with the valves wired open compare to the 6.2 with tubi?

I have had Tubis in the past and they do different sound levels that could be why there was a difference in the sound of the Larini/Tubi combos on both Simon's and Mr Abramovich's Murcis, depending on which sound levels they went for. Just a thought...

Jon, drop me an email and i'll get them off to you

Topjay - the LP640 with valves wired open is slightly louder than standard but is no comparison to a 6.2 or 6.5 with Tubi which is far far louder. The Tubi tips & back box plus cats does sound fantastic imho

SirM - there are a 1 0r 2 no limits days at Donington and Silverstone - I cannot remember the trackday club that runs most of them but I am sure someone will be along to tell you

You should be okay at Spa and some of the other french tracks are in fairly deserted areas...but I would check before you go. We went with Johnny at Bookatrack to Spa in 07 and there was some seriously loud stuff running there. But I seem to recall that even there they have adopted a 120dB limit ?

The honest answer is if you want to track day the Lambo you will probably need a different exhaust set up so that you can get under 105dB - my 550 with larini rear boxes is 104dB so it is do able - or else maybe get a track day toy - lots of lovely Radical SR3's for sale at the moment...

Good luck
