Kind of you to post this but, given that some have actually achieved discounts on early cars they're 'having a laugh' if they want a premium. I'm sure in six months early cars will be £19995 anyway. Several dealers were chasing me as recently as two weeks ago to see if I want 'cancelled order' early cars too.

Hi Pugesy. I tried all the local dealers you informed me about with no joy whatsoever.I've even had two dealers laugh when i was pushing for a discount ( i kid you not ) . Every dealer was adament that they would not give a penny off the new RS even when i was offering over £1000 deposit to put down straight away.

None of the dealers have early cars either. Most telling me that December will be when i would get an RS if i ordered now.

I've now rang over 20 ford dealers and will have to stick to my best offer , which is a fixed part exchange and delivery in July/August. On the two RS forums i've used everyone else seems to be in the same boat.

If anyone else has managed to get a discount or been able/offered an early delivery i would appreciate if you could post what dealer and where.

Really sorry to hear that mate. As you know from our discussions I suspect there were good reasons why both myself and a friend got discounts and have also been offered further early cars within the last week or so. I still think that if a discount is paramount to you - eg. maybe you aren't going to keep the car that long - then your best bet would be to wait and pick up a used car late summer. I'm sure they'll be around for £19995ish then. One thing's for sure. DON'T pay a premium. People aren't doing that any more even on £100k plus cars!

Apologies if my early posts both here and elsewhere gave anyone false hope!

£19995 by late summer. I will have a bet with you here and now for £5000 (our solicitors can draw it up) that this is absolute nonsense. Do you fancy it ? Like you I have owned many cars more exotic than a 'mere' Ford but relish the thought of owning one of these. I am also very capable of picking up the phone and do not require a great deal of help from forums such as this. Having spoken to many, many dealers across the UK as a cash buyer, my information is that any discount will not be forthcoming. I also believe that these cars will command a premium.

Back to the original point. £19995 by late summer. Nonsense in the extreme. Why do you speak with such authority ? Do you believe that every one else on this forum is a moron that needs to rely on your 'advice'. LOL.

Absolutely 100% agree with that.

There is now way on this earth you will get a used one (that's not damaged or stolen recovered) for £19995 any time within the next 12 months never mind late summer.

Are you mad?

I'd hazard a guess it will be 2012 at the earliest before the roughest/highest milers go for sub 20's.

When they start being delivered they will sell for a premium. I'm sure of that.

FFS wind it in.Pugsey has been very helpful to some potential buyers on here, and he's done it without the arrogance of your post above.I've been out in a development RS a couple of weeks ago,and last week after the RS lecture at Dunton saw the final UK spec version close up.Now rest assured it's gonna be very very good, but anyone who thinks that it's going to carry a premium months after it's launch is living in cuckoo land. That's not a slight on the RS just the fact that it's simply not happening on any desirable car at the moment, whether that be the Nissan GTR(just got my dep.back)DBS,or 430's. It'll be the best depreciator in its class by a long way, but that'll be as good as it gets.

Anyone who has read my posts - and corresponded with me direct - will probably understand why I can't be bothered to reply to your nasty little rant. Other than to ask why it's OK for you to shout your opinions on the cars pricing/value/premiums in such an agressive manner yet attack me for voicing mine in what I thought was an entirely reasonable manner - based on my own experiences.

Yes - wind it in mate .. no need for that on here.

The RS is a weird car ..

Ford have aparrently only sold 1000 cars since launch - which it said 4000 were ear marked for the UK market ...

Yet wander on to the Ford web site or visit a Ford dealers and you cannot find any sign of the RS for sale .. no brocures .. no info.

So - they are not trying very hard to sell them..

Will they be <20K 6 months after the first delivered cars ... hard to say in this crazy market .. so who knows.

It's not a nasty little rant, or arrogant. I merely take issue with the facts you state. I re-iterate that these cars will not be available for £19995 by late summer, and I define that by August/September 2009. In August/September 2009 the cars will have a minimum base retail of £25745 + options and it is actually possible that the first cars may not have been delivered. Therefore, the figure of £19995 is laughable and ridiculous. Don't get on my case about it, let's hear some solid justification about how you draw this conclusion. From Pugsey, or any of his fans. £19995 by late summer is quite ridiculous and my offer of a bet stands.

I apologise if someone disageeing with inaccurate facts constitutes arrogance or nastiness as it it not intended as such. Although public forums do allow misinformed information to be publishesd as gospel, most people are intelligent enough to take it with the proverbial pinch of salt. My number of posts illustrate how often I get involved in this trivia but on this one occasion the statement of the 'facts' is so clearly wrong that, coupled with a few glasses of red wine last night, they needed to be questioned.

I feel my point has been made and on the advice of others will now 'wind it in'. Looking forward to the car, whenever it arrives, and happy to pay list.

I said 'late summer' assuming delivery of the first cars in March - in other words I was guessing £19,995 for a six month old car. I'd agree that if deliveries start later then late summer may become 'late Autumn' or whatever. Grovelling apologies for such lack of clarity. I'm sure no-one on here takes my views as 'fact' or 'gospel' do they? After all they all seem like an intelligent lot to me! They're just another bloke's views just like anyone else's. Either way it's not life or death is it and as long as anyone getting one of these fabulous cars enjoys it to the full nothing else matters much IMHO smile

I rang round 4 dealers yesterday in central scotland to gauge when i might get the chance to see one of these wee beasties in the flesh, and they all
said 1st deliveries now slipped to early June (from mid/late April).

Also, a couple of them said that production was now anticipated to go
way over the originally intimated limited run of 4000 odd, if demand
is there.
