transmision clonking

Hi,
New to the monaro world ,Iv'e read that the transmisions clonk in 1st & 2nd but mine clonks now and again on start up is this noral or not? is the clutch not disengaging? the car do's not attempt to move or is the noise connected with the starter.it's a 56 plate on 23,000 miles

Monaros are a bit cloncky. If it is just taking up drive when manoeuvring etc then probably OK. Continuous noises and repeated difficulty selecting gears would indicate a problem. Can be a bit of a challenge to drive smoothly slowly.
