break down!?!?

Out of interest, has any Tuscan owner suffered a break down while driving? If so what was the issue? Clutch? Throttle cable? Electrical?

In 30,000 miles, only once. Pedal end of the throttle cable fell off. A nice man from the RAC fixed it at the road side

Stuck in traffic a couple of months ago mine over heated due to a faulty hose. Thought it best to wait for the RAC but all he did was top up the water and follow me home in case it happened again. New hose problem solved

Not technically a breakdown since I managed to get home but my clutch went end of October. Managed to get to and from work with it though luckily on the way home it was quite early and traffic was light so no changing gears, lol.

Oh, and i left the lights on once leaving me with a flat battery.

Accelerator cable snapped on my only breakdown. A nice man in yellow fitted another one for me at the roadside.

Alternator... a slow and silent break-down actually, once the battery flattened the fuel pump will no longer feed the Speed Six...

Twice in 6 years, both due to the clutch. First time slave cylinder, then second the fingers let go, although to be honest I knew it was coming just hoped it wouldn't be as quick.

Had a non starting prob. Called the RAC. interestingly he said that they are not allowed to remove Tusk bonnet even if the owner agrees and assists, aparently the panel is too costly in case something gets damaged!

Plug leads started breaking down on mine day after I bought it, New set of 8mm magnecors and touch wood been ok since
Bought a coil pack aswell just in case leads did'nt fix the problem

Nope.

One of the water temp sensors failed in solid traffic once, though. Fans didn't kick in and the temperatures went up 'a bit'.

The car stayed running though, long enough to park up, cool down (during a shopping trip) and then get me home. Has been fine since replacing the sensor, and I had an ally rad fitted at the same time (to get rid of the crap plastic components in the factory fit jobbie).

Other than that, never had an issue of any real consequence and it's been out in all weathers.

I am not taking the p. I almost broke down on my way to a garage as I knew my slave cylinder was going, just won't get in any gear for a few minutes on Edgware Road - traffic was queuing up behind me. thank god i made the journey at the end(just)!!! Being a newbie of TVR world. I just want to be mentally prepared if anything that may cause a sudden break down without any symptom before. Looking at the responses (thanks guys!!), it doesn't sound too bad if we look after our motors.

Unfortunately, I have to add another one... My clutch failed yesterday (after 22k miles of fighting 400bhp and 315 ft.lbf of torque...) on my way to the car wash, in preparation for the TVR CC BeLux meeting this week-end... Now in a local garage for fixing (slave cylinder and clutch plate)... while the sun is finally out...and all the mates are having fun, except me. grrrrrrrrrrrr!!! :-(
One of the rare moments one could start thinking about Porkys - not really though ;-)

not while driving. bad connection on the crankshaft sensor. no warning, no misfires nothing, drove perfectly. parked. next day a non starter. Had to get it recovered. - spit and damn.

Through a shim in 2007.
Luck I was only doing about 15mph.
Unlucky I was in Germany and had to get her shipped back to the UK for warrantee repair.
