Removing rear clam - Spyder.

I've had a quick look to see how easy it is, and it doesn't seem that hard, but does anyone have instructions/guide to remove it?

It's just so i can gain easier access to the gearbox when i'm cleaning and re-painting it.

I imagine it is hinged using rose joints in the same way as the GTR/CanAm.
If so then release the gas struts (spring clip holds the ball end in place) and gently open the clip right back until you find the point where it hits the body. Close it slightly from that point and position something both supportive and soft to go under the back of the clip and take its weight.
With it supported you can then release the bolts passing through the rose joint.
The clip will not just sit there it will require additional support. When I have done mine I push the car right to the back of the garage to remove the clip and stop it falling forward by tieing it up to the garage roof then move the car forward again to work on it.

On the GTR if you release the struts and then let the rear panel open gently till it touchs the tires its almost at 90 degrees. If you then take a light weight tie down strap and hook it on the hood catch and then to the frame there is very good acsess to the whole engine trans axel bay. Give it a try a lot less hassel then taking the whole clip off. Lee

The spyder was a bit more low tech, just two bolts, one each side. And the gas struts, dont forget to undo the power cable on the near side.

When you lift it off, you need TWO people.... as the rear wing is a LOT heaver than you think.

Defo agree with that! A BIG struggle to lift on yer own as it's also pretty unweildy.
