Tyre wear - edges

My tyres are pretty similar to these ones:
The treadblocks on the edges are getting quite worn - they're about a few mm now, worse on the outside edge. The central channels (with the wear indicators) still have 4mm + of tread.
Assuming the distance between the edge treadblocks is more than 75% of the tyre width, am I still going to be legal if the edge blocks wear down to the limit?

The tyre must have tread of 1.6mm for the central 3/4 of the tread pattern and visible tread for the entire width, ergo your tyres are still legal.However if you have 4mm in the central 3/4 and little/no tread on the edges I would suggest your tracking needs atention, or your tyre pressures are seriously under the recommended pressures
I suspect there may be case law on this. Away back in the dim and distant past, not long after the depth law was introduced, there was a case involving tyres (Avon cross-plies IIRC) with 'tread' which ran up the sidewalls, and would never normally touch the ground. The defence had claimed that that was part of the 'three quarters' (in those days it didn't have to be the centre three quarters which had the tread). Unfortunately, I never did find out the final outcome.
