Fitting Cats

I've decided that my decat pipes with CCC's are just too loud. I put the std cans back on and it's too quiet so have decided to put the Cats back in and the CCC's on - I bought the car with decats

Anyone done this? Is this pretty easy to do? I'm guessing there's just pipe inserted where the cats were and I just need to remove that and stick the cats in? I also have the original EPROM chip that was changed when the cats were removed and am guessing I should swap that back as well? So need to find the ECU...

ECU is locate in the drivers side foot well. should be blue with MBE label on it

And Mr Brush you're welcome to the decat kit assuming I get the result I'm looking for. Been trying to match the sound of my previous Tuscan (which had cats and CCC's) without having to put the cats back in but decide to bite the bullet so hopefully this will do the trick. Not sure when I'll get the chance to switch them out, could be a few weeks but I'll be back in touch once it's done

Cheers. My cars in bits currently so I'm not in a major rush.

Have you thought of partially sleeving the standard cans? I think Ntel does some to go with his decats which are perforated for a third of their length or similar. It may be easier than swapping all the kit over and you keep the decat benefits.

I run my mk1 s with cats in and ccc's and absolutly love the sound it makes although when driving through my local town late at night it's a bit to loud and when running through town it tends to frighten the old ladies when it pops and bangs on overrun in the daytime
Never bought this car for its fuel economy but running with this setup it seems very economical compared to some of the threads on here (when driven sensably)

I was amazed at the heat the cats produce and the damage they do to the chassis..........I'm going to decat for no other reason than to stop the damage to the chassis.

Indeed, the partially perforated end cans I have made for my (decatted) Tuscan sound spot on. Unfortunately I am so busy with my "day job" and preparing for the Tuscan Challenge racing season at the moment I cannot find the time to make another batch or even one off runs. The ones I run at the moment give the exhaust note a really deep and pleasing tone, yet they can just scrape through a 105dba noise test at Oulton Park. The design of the internals of the cans also have a big part to play in the creation of a "nice noise". I have put a lot of work, and money, in the development of a range of cans but, unfortunately, just don't have any time to make any at the moment. If things get quieter with the day job then things may change. All development work is complete and there are a few sets out there (all ex development stuff).

Hi Jim, expecting material delivery tomorrow but had a family bereavement this week with a few other complications. Should have a new batch made by mid next week if I can get this blessed mobile phone out of my earhole.
