Title says it all really.

All's well with the tailgate, then nothing.

Put fingers into the grippy thing, and there is no whirr, click, clunk from the mech at all.

Central locking works on all doors, but can't hear anything from the tailgate lock area.

Simple fix?
garage?
Sledgehammer?

52 plate BTW

Cheers if any one has any clues

You will have to get the interior trim off to open it.

I suspect that where the wires pass from the body to the tailgate will have chaffed or broken,

Worth checking the fuses first though!

Thanks for that.

I will check fuses, but nothing else appears to be not working.

I was hoping that the trim wasn't going to have to come off, but at least there is plenty of room back there!

I like your thinking DTM.

Just popped outside, and the tailgate released using the fob.

Will investigate further tomorrow

Could be the GEM which has failed.

Didn't the 52 plate cars have a key hole to unlock with as well?

I think if the GEM has failed it wont pop the boot on the remote , as podie says there is a keyhole hidden under the strip next to the touchpad , also does the button on the dash work ?

Hi again,

The button on dash doesn't work, but not sure if it ever did.

What is the GEM that you have mentioned?

It does appear as though it is just the switch/wiring at the release point that is a problem.

Anyway, fob does the job for now.

Cheers
