Mini Engine Wanted
Discussion
I'm looking for a reasonably quick 1293/1330 road race engine to put into a project mini. I have a Jack Knight gearbox that I would like to use but would take something that has been built up. New or second hand preferably with low mileage would be ideal as I am trying to keep the cost down. If anyone can recomend someone to build apart from the usual suspects MED and the like who are amazing but outa the price range at the moment.
Build it yourself
I got my 1275 machinned out to 1293, all balanced, lightened etc then put it back together with a new cam etc etc.
Its not as hard as it may sound, just be logical, very clean and take your time. Its just nuts and bolts!
A friend of mine has a very solid 1275 he is trying to get rid of too...

I spoke to a few garages asking if they knew any good mechanics that would be interested in some pocket money and I found a mechanic who normally builds high-power Cosworth engines, wasn't fast getting it built but did only cost me £50 and a crate of beer and the engine was exceptional when built, very torquey with great power. It was a stage 2 1293 engine with a stage 3 head kit from MiniSport, lightened and balanced components, inc flywheel.
If I was buying off the shelf and wanted the best, I'd have a chat with Bill.. http://www.billrichardsracing.com/wp/
