Shelsley T2 ???
Discussion
Have a read of this http://www.pistonheads.com/roadtests/doc.asp?c=112...
and this http://www.pistonheads.com/roadtests/doc.asp?c=112...
The website http://www.shelsley-cars.co.uk/
It was something I considered a few years ago along with the GTM Libra.
I went for the Libra partly because they were higherprofile, with 2 active owners clubs and I prefered the styling.
I believe they are very capable cars but there aren't many about. I don't know if they are still made and haven't seen Pete Needham at a show for probably 4 years. When I spoke to him he was a very nice guy and very helpfull. I don't think he ever marketed the cars very hard and his interest was more in Hillclimbing and engineering. The website hasn't been updated in years. Then again either has GTM's
Try giving him a call?
What kind of price is it? The last one I saw for sale I think was around the 12k mark. That was a good while ago though. As with all kitcars price would depend on build quality, spec and condition.

how much would you in your experince say it was worth? or how much would you be willing too pay for it?
i see the kit is £8,000 new would it be worth more or less than this in your opinion?
i really do not want too swap my £10,000 car for it to find when i come to sell it on it dont sell for similer funds.
i cant seem too find any videos on the net of it in action either
thank you for all the input too date.
hope to hear from you all soon.

The kit might well be £8000 but on top of that there will be donor parts, seats, wheels etc etc. I wouldn't have thought it would have been built for less than £18000.
Is it the car with blue interior? If so I think it was for sale a while ago for £12,000. Of course that means very little.
I would imagine it is the Rover T series Turbo engine. Was it rebuilt when the car was built? How about the Turbo? Brakes? Are they original Rover? What over all condition is the car in? Is the kit still available?
When was it built?
What would you want to change/upgrade? What would that cost?
With it being such a rare car it's more difficult to value. If it's mint, with rebuilt donor parts and engine with low mileage since build then maybe it's......... nah it still sounds expensive
Ok if it's no more than 3-4 years since build and it's in great condition and built with recon parts I would imagine £8000 would be about right.

If your car has been modified; then how are you putting that £10,000 value on it? Is someone actually going to pay you that for it today? If you don't have someone with real money wanting to buy your car today, then I reckon both cars are similarly difficult to value, and it is unrealistic for you to try and put figures together.
As previously posted, you have to decide if you like the new one enough to swop into it. The only thing to consider is which one you would rather have, not any notional value attached to either.
Edited to add:
Having just looked at your car in the classified, although your car may seem reasonably priced to you in relation to the amount spent on it; to me as a non-drifter, it just looks more modified and 1000,s more expensive than other similar cars.
The value of any modifed car is exceptionally difficult to fix, since like kit cars, there are few buyers. You will need to get away from ideas about actual values on both vehicles when contemplating this swop.
Oh; and as you can probably guess, I'd rather have the T2 than your machine. You will find others that disagree. That's the thing about 'individual' cars.

This T2 cost about 17k to build if I remember correctly. T2's usually go (privately) for between 10 and 15k depending on their condition. The 8k "kit" is +vat and you need engine, box, wheels, upholstry etc etc. (infact the wheels on this T2 are my old ones)
My T2 has cost over 30k to build with the same engine (abeit "improved" on).
Not sure what you mean about others being quicker (4.3s 0-60 and 150mph top speed sounds quick to me!!), the handling on the T2 is better than most cars I've driven and is very predictable

Now I really wish I'd seen that earlier; that is an awful lot of car for very, very little money!http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Good strong chassis that doesn't bend, side impact bars in the doors, as mentioned cast Iron block (rover T16 turbo), an interior, mid-engined so has a few extra kg of coolant. Shelsley do a 500kg racer though
I'd much rather buy a car from somebody who understand what a crash structure is
Looking at mine, I would think it has a very good crash structure, front and rear collapsable sections and two stage side impact bars i'd rather crash in a Shelsley than a severnesque.
It was actually put to the test buy one builders neighbour when they reversed through their garage door (by accident) and straight into the car

Anybody know what happend to the green Shelsley T2, just wondered as I built it, with a
lot off help from Peter Needham, the clever man who designed it
I'm afraid I can't help but I just wanted to congratulate you on the most impressive lurking I've ever seen on here. 2 posts in 77 months! How on earth did you remember the username and password for an account last over 6 years ago?! lot off help from Peter Needham, the clever man who designed it
