Hi guys,
I've got an Estoril Blue M3 with properly rotten Original 19" after the winter. Im looking to get them refurbed but for what looks like around £100 a corner for a proper job it getting close to being CSL replica money. This would also mean i'd have spare wheels for winter to keep them in good nick away from the salt.I had a look through the old topics and noticed that the replica's seem to be alot heavier than original CSL's. I was just wondering if they would be heavier than the original 19's on at the moment.
I realise this probably comes up alot but any opinions would be apreicated, mint refurbed original 19's or new 19" CSL reps on a estoril blue M3, im not 100% sure which to go for myself at the moment.
Oh, and if anyone had a photo of an estoril blue m3 on csl wheels it would be helpful to see.

A set of OEM CSL alloys are only £1100 so why not pay that hit extra? They will always hold their value as well

Thought someone might say that! I totally agree but I didn't think OEM's came for much under £1400 which is out of my price range and you can only do what you can afford.Where have you seem OEM's for that price?

At my dealers 
I had a CSL a couple of years ago and badly curbed one of the wheels. I phoned a few places and like you the prices were coming in at well over £100 for a decent repair, plus I would of had to post the wheel out and have the car on axle stands for a week.
I rang my dealer and a set of 4 came in at something like £1123 which I though was super value, so I ordered them
Even better news was that after I had them fitted, I sold the old one's on e bay for £800!
A friend of mine has a 330ci with fake CSL's on and it really does look pants, the fronts dont look too bad but the rears look afwul! The edges are too sharp and they are not "deep dish" compared to the OEM one's.
You have got a decent car there that I presume you paid over £15k for, so another grand IMHO is nothing to keep everything looking good, and you can always sell them separately after or ask for more in the sale to include them

I have an Estoril blue M3 and recently had all the alloys refurbed properly, see the link below for some pictures etc (they are the standard 19"s however, not CSL's.) Amazing what a difference they can make.

I'm going to get a friend with a CS to get a price from a dealer for his wheels for me. It might work out better with CS wheels anyway because i wont need to change my front tyres, so if it cheaper as well then that could be a solution. From what i've heard BMW wont sell CS/CSL wheels to customers without a CS/CSL.
I'm very keen to keep a set of spare wheels for winter. My one's on the car at the moment where refurbed by the dealer when i bought the car 8 months ago and are now completed nakered, the joys of scottish winters!

I have had no problem with ordering Csl wheels from main dealer ..
The parts guy i use said that loads of chassis no's for csl's have been pasted to him over the years...
Some poor owners are driving around in their csl's with Bmw head office showing they have had 20 sets or more for their car .
Csl's a few years back came in at £999 for a set
I was told by the very parts guy that the price has gone up ..
The difference i have found between any rep wheel compared to OEM wheels of all makes is
Weight difference reps are heavier .
Rep wheels need much larger amount of balance weights to get right..
Paint finish is poorer , with some alloy wheel cleaners stripping the paint of slowly.
Have seen a couple of rep wheels crack and fall apart which caused one accident and one scary moment .
Rep wheels in general seem to bend much easier then OEM wheels ..

Strange thing is some of the nicest aftermarket wheels are really no better than rep wheels ...

Simpson motorsport are selling them for around that mark as well. So unless you find a good set of 2nd hand wheels, I dont think there going to come in for under £1600. BBS CH's are about £290 a corner, but i dont think i'd want to make the car look modified( unless it was stripped, caged and kitted out with AP's and slicks!)
Starting to think again about just getting the OEM's refurbed after seeing AlexM3's car. Just need to make sure i wash them alot during winter and hopfully they will last longer that 8 months!

Just been quoted retail Front £ 406 + vat and Rear £ 424 + vat

Thats £1909 for a set with vat .
Has demand put these wheel prices up so much do you think ???
I have posted on M torque a while back that Lepsons are experimenting with a new process and material for diamond cut wheels , so that they will be able to give a garantee against the finish...
The results of such wheels look stunning ( i have seen them in the metal ) now its just down too testing them for durabilty really !
I can not really post what and how to this process as i am sure other wheel refurbishers would love to know ...
I will post a new thread with any new development .

Guys what about M6 Wheels instead are they any cheaper? In my case on a Imola Z4M Coupe
