Thought I'd start this one rolling again...

Out of interest, what are people paying for servicing? I am due a "B" service next (in a few months) on my 111r and spoke to the Lotus main dealer in Leeds this morning who quoted me a "discounted price" of £390.

i) Does this sound about right or is there some fleecing going on here?

ii) Presumably I can get it done at a none main dealer for cheaper, but is it worth it? ie. should I pay an extra few quid to get the main dealer stamp? The car has been main dealer only serviced till now.

Thanks

B

I went to JCT to get the 111R serviced a couple of weeks ago. I saved 10% by joining NYLOC so that's worth doing straight away. Apparently the AABAAC - type service schedule doesn't apply to the Toyota engined cars so it's a standard service. For information, I paid about £350 for what would've been a B service so you're not far off. Pure Lotus in Wetherby is your other Yorkshire option, although I never established whether my extended warranty would be valid there so didn't pursue it. Drop me an email if you want to chat about it further. You off to the NYLOC meeting next week by the way?

It does depend on how thorough you want to be with the paperwork, but a 'B' service is, I believe, no more than an 'A' + new plugs and air filter.

The plugs and air filter are probably the easiest of all DIY jobs.

My point being that as many 'A's run at £150-£200 at respected independents, you'd be (much) better off getting an 'A' and changing the plugs+filter yourself.

Plugs and filter about £35 DIY.

It is very unlikely the £390 quoted includes coolant or brake fluid, methinks. So around £200 or so to save with an 'A' + little DIY.

Having said that, you never know what 'essential' work they may find.......laugh.....and in that respect it matters not whether Lotus or Hyundai dealer.

Hi Andy, I can't make it next Tuesday unfortunately, got other plans.

Thanks for the tip - Pure Lotus advertise a B service at £260 on theri website, plus there's 10% for NYLOC member. £234 seems more reasonable than £390! I'm not under extended warranty, so no probs for me there.

I am also quite tempted to get an A and do the rest myself, I'll look into it.

Thanks

To be honest, if it wasn't for the warranty issue (which I still haven't pursued to my detriment) then I'd probably have saved the money and gone to Pure Lotus. I used to work next door and the gaffer, Jay, is a good lad. Their technician is Lotus trained and they have a real passion for the cars. Good luck - it's not cheap whatever you do!

Service (3rd year or 27K ) 325
MOT 53
Brake Fluid 60

Sorry do not know what actually a "B" Service is for an R.

(almost)C service on S1 $865 NZ = approx 325 quid
The car costs more here but at least servicing seems cheaper

Called in to Pure Lotus on the way home last night - what a nice bunch of guys.

You were right Andy, Danny at PL reckons that the AABAAC etc service schedule doesn't apply to 'yota engines, so in view of the low milage (she's just turned 12k), she only needs an A service - £160, bosh.

It might end up being more expensive though, cos I think I might *need* that cold air induction kit he was telling me about too hehe not to mention that Larini back box...

JCT is the most expensive place on earth. Would never take mine there. There are a few specialists around that would probably give your car a better service as they are probably more bothered about saving their reputation

I've got an awful feeling mine is suffering from insufficient induction and exhaustion and requires similar treatment smile
