Left hand droop
Discussion
I have just bought a 1990 S2 with 50000 KM here in Canada. I have had it for 2 weeks and I'm getting ready to put it away for the winter. The dealer has given me Warrenty until June of 2004. I love the car it is everything that I thought my TVR 5000M (started life as a 3000M)was going to be. It handles great , sounds great, looks great, oh it is just great. BUT I have noticed that it droops a bit on the back left side. I have met another S1 owner here in Canada and he is having the same problem. It reminds me of my "MGB Drivers side droop." What is it? Is it something to worry about? If so how do you fix it? Sorry guys but I have to ask you Brits as we only have about 30 S Series cars in Canada, of which I only know the where abouts of 3.
Could be a duff spring or possibly trailing arm. You need to get the wheel off and have a good look around. If you cant see anything obvious then it is probably just a tired spring. Could be talking ******** of course, but thats what I think.
Edited to say - oh and have you got the 'bible' yet. It really is a 'must have'.

Suggest you find some level ground and measure the actual chassis height and damper lengths. That will tell you whether the problem is in the chassis/suspension or just the bodywork. You'll need a spirit level to find ground that is absolutely flat and level, but if necessary you can always put boards under the wheels to level it off.

If you look under the regalia section there is a link to books. Then just choose the S book, its not a complete workshop job, but has most of the bits you need and a few extras.

Dave,
If you've been reading a few of the posts on here you will've seen lots of mention of 'The Bible' that Roy referred to. This is basically a comprehensive model and technical guide written by Steve Heath; you can see details here. It can be purchased from the TVRCC for £29.95 (I think the one pictured on the TVRCC site is the first edition, whereas the picture on Steve's site is of the current, second edition) and it looks like shipping to Canada is only £4.
I think I can vouch for everyone here when I say it's indispensible, probably even more so when you don't have any local TVR specialists to fall back on!
Incidentally, good on you for flying the TVR flag in Canada!
Enjoy!
Richard
Edited to say, Doh! z_chromozone just beat me to it.

Once again Thanks . I do enjoy flying the TVR flag in Canada and try to get as many together as possilbe, as often as posilbe. The most TVR (any model) that we have been able to get together at one time was this September at a British cars show just outside of Toronto. 1300 British cars, 11 TVR's including my M (at the time) and my S2 which I bought about 3 weeks later. I did buy it from a dealer here. He has not brought cars into Canada since 1994 when TVR cut him off. He was creditted with saving the company after the fire but only on the QT. He still services everything. He also put the V8 in my 3000M best installer in North America. Thanks again I think I will be buying myself a couple of Christmas presents.
Cheers
Dave
