It's the 'day of mothers'; plural possessive - Mothers' Day.

Surely you're missing the point of the question? It is predicated upon the thought that either it is the Day of your Mother (Mother's Day), or the Day of Mothers (Mothers' Day) We're debating the choice of one of two correct grammatical usages.

That may be your question, but it wasn't the OP's.
He simply wanted to know the correct usage.

The day is a general celebration of motherhood. Nothing to do with your mother in particular; it would just be a bit odd if you bought your neighbour's mother a card.
