Inspection on a F355
Discussion
F Car garages tend to get a bit pissy letting an indie come in and do a PPI but I imagine they'd buckle if you were persistant enough. Try Karl at Verdi he will do PPI's.
Duh, ignore what I just wrote, I misread your post. Yes, some F car garages will do PPI's. I had Carrs of Exeter look over my 348 GTC before I bought it. They did a top job too.

Call Geoff @ Shiltech, 01509 210630, very honest, great service.
Well i would not say both Geoff and Richard of Shiltec are as straight as a dia. I stopped dealing with them 6 years ago because of there dishonesty. Just make sure you stand over them as they do the PPI.

I can tell you that I had a PPI done by someone very well respected on various forums and, although I specifically asked for a compression test to be done, I VERY much doubt it was ever actually carried-out, even though the inspection report stated 'all cylinders within 10% of each other'. I suspect this because he didn't consider it necessary (but I wanted it anyway) and the report did not furnish the actual numbers.
Moral of the story? Be there if you can and ask for photos (be specific if there's something you specifically want looked at). Also, it's worth remembering that, if something is missed during the PPI, you will have zero comeback other than, possibly, getting some/all of your PPI money back.
If I were buying again, I wouldn't have a PPI done. I'm clued-up mechanically and do a lot of research before buying, but I got scared when it came to my first F-car. At the end of the day, it's a car, not a mysterious black box. If you're not mechanically-minded, though, I'd say a PPI is a good idea.
Cheers,
Ian.
