Arggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

4 months to get my car sorted, 4 months. MOT's booked for next Saturday, everything is fantastic except for a little hesitation at high revs. So last night I went for a quick test drive with a mate to see if we could work out what was causing it. As I was reversing off the drive, the exhaust U bolt caught a raised section of curb and proceeded to rip my exhaust off.

Closer inspection today reveals that the down pipe on one of my manifolds has bent about 6 inches back, made contact with the chassis cross member then sprung back to leave it about 2-3 inches out of place.

I'm gutted! The only consolation is the manifold appears intact, just bent. Won't know for sure until I've repaired the exhausts properly.

Oh well, st happens rolleyes

Awwww noooo

Don't worry, you have good days and bad ones. My day is a bad one too, my cars in bits and I'm getting annoyed because the weather is briliant and I can't use it. I need a new exhaust too, plus a few other bits...

Can you get a scissor jack or something in there to 'persuade' the manifold downpipe back into place??

The downpipes aren't too expensive either! Are the manifolds themselves okay?

I have considered the jack idea, I'm just concerned that I'll break the manifold. It was pure bloody luck that I didn't rip the manifold bolts clean out the head.
I think I'm going to jack it up tonight and stick a pry bar up the downpipe and attempt to bend it back, failing that, I'll give the jack a go.

Might be worth getting a new pipe rather than risk damaging the manifold.

Especially if they're stainless as that tends to split easier... I think

Get a new downpipe, their about #50.
