Steering Rack Stops
Discussion
All
I've got a pile of observations following the 12,000 mile service (I'll post separately on the excellent job they have done). I'll be tackling the easier jobs myself (wiper blades, exhaust hangers etc). They have got the important stuff, like ENGINE BAY FUEL LINES beginning to perish.
One job is to fit Steering Rack Stops, to stop the spiders rubbing the wishbones.
As the search facility is down can anyone point me at a thread or give me some advice on fitting please.
Also, out of interest, some of the valve clearances were down to 3 jobbies, whereas they should be 10 or 12, so apparently I'm in for a pleasant power hike when I get the car back !)
cheers
Mike

You need at leat one stopper per side.
They are simply plastic discs with a hole in the middle. You put them on the steering rack on each side , they limit the turn to avoid scraping wheels.
I note that this is to stop the spiders from scraping...my car has SP12 alloys...havent driven it enough to see if the wheels rub...anyone got any experience of SP12's doing this...?They are simply plastic discs with a hole in the middle.
