Thought those of you of a certain age may be interested in this, the fabled Cannonball Run 1 car has recently come out of hiding, and been bought by an enthusiast who is having the car restored, I was lucky enough to see the car last april, and am looking forward to seeing the finished item sometime in the future.

Enjoy the daily updates by checking this link.

Cripes, that brings back some early pubescent memories hehe

IIRC, Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) was in the sequel in a similar role cloud9

Actually sadly those are movie authentic, the car had them when the movie was made, you can see them in certain scenes if you freeze frame.
They are being kept as the new owner wants to restore the car eactly as it was, when in the movie. I can understand his thinking, but normally they would be sacriligious!!

Well the old owner Mr Rice, was the owner of Hawaiian Tropic sun tan company, and if you have ever seen the Hawaiian Tropic girls....apparently he had a little too much fun in the car over the years, so it needed releathering!!!! he just said he liked the red / burgandy leather at the time.

Really? Ouch, looking at the movie still on their homepage you can also just about see the secondary rear spoiler.
I can certainly see why they avoided shooting the rear in too much detail.

The ridiculous front and rear 'spoilers' fitted to some American registered Countachs were to get around legislation in certain states to do with bumper heights, or something very similar, to make them road legal.

I'd like to meet a couple of Hawaiian Tropic girls in there, whatever the colour!
