Hi guys,

Just a quick question, getting my 98 v70r serviced and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what the best oil to use would be? It has been tuned and the tuner recommends shell helix 5w30, is this the option i should take or are there other equally good oils worth considering?

Cheers in advance

Dave

Shell Helix Semisynth 15w/40 sae - We service all our customers cars with and I've run My own T5 turbo on it for ages and its excellent, engines run really cleanly with it and it will last 10k between chnages. If you're on a budget, I'd go with Comma XT2000 15w/40sae - part of their "performance oils range" - its not as good as the shell but does the job for half the price

I'd go for a 10w-40 over a 15w-40 as it will flow a bit quicker when cold, giving you better cold start protection

Ditto shell helix, good choice for the turbo engine.

All good sound advice there. Just remember you get what you pay for. Always stick to the OEM's recommendation on spec and choose a major brand.
