Just wondered what ECU options there are and what others have used.

anyone used Motec, Omex etc? and are there any baseline maps and people who can map them around?

you can use any ecu you want !

however you will have to wire the ecu in to fit correctly

what ecu is in your car ? some of them can be remapped

If that's for your current project and is still at the spec listed, we may be able to help you out with it?

Omex, want to offer a plug in alternative to the MBE, I can put you in contact with them, funnily enough I was having this conversation with them yesterday, I said mine isn't broken and there is a lot invested in the MBE.

And if it's for a Noble, there will be a generic option with loom converter to all but plug and play available in the foreseeable future.
We're just doing development work on it now with the designers/manufacturers, (SimTek). Very good kit, we use it on Impreza and Evo.

I have a Motec M800 unit for my V12 TT project so Im sorted on that front....

Basically Im fed up with waiting for my MBE units to come back 6mths now.. hence Im considering another unit for my Noble.... quite fancy being able to have a look at the programme but dont want to get too carried away lol.

Plug in option to the existing loom may be exactly what Im looking for as long as its not too expensive.

Just make sure whichever ECU you choose, it is E marked and approved, as per the new legislation, otherwise you could end up with an issue if something bad happened as technically you will not be insured.

There are now 3 nobles with the Haltech fitted that I know of. There is the cheaper e8 for about 1500 fitted and the e11v2 for about 1800 fitted. They ha e now brought out a platinum range. They all have lots of feature built into the ecu. The STD replacement was the omex (Noble motor sport do this) this used to involve changing the timing wheel as it didn't run sequential. Omex now does but not sure if that's the one they use. I may be wrong of course.

Where are you based.

Id be very interested in knowing why E marks might be needed... no components are emarked on car as far as im aware with the exception of lights, glass, tyres etc... why would the ECU need to be.
There are plenty running home made ECU's (megasquirt) is there some kind of silly rule coming in?... if so Im knackered as cant remember seeing an e mark on my Motec unit.

With regard to the MBE... is there anyone other that Noble or MBE who can look at the ecu and give me a verdict or sort it out?
Bacially my ECU ran the car perfectly but just stopped starting on the button... but would bump start and run fine... was repaired but ran terrible when put back in the car... I have a borrowed ECU thats run the car perfectly for last 6mths and 8k miles (with exception to a minor cutting out fault which is why it was a spare).

I wonder whether during the repair process, your normal runnung map for the car was corrupted/lost and you ended up with just some kind of base map in there?
We can map Omex and Motec as well here Andy.
