Got a fixed price service offer through from Vauxhall today for the Monaro for 119 quid - interesting thing though was that they were directing me to book it into a non Monaro specialist!! Now considering they made me drive a 120 mile round trip to get the seat spring recall done I find it somewhat ironic they now suggest I can go the 500 yards down the road to my local dealer for a service - the same dealer they didnt trust to clip on a spring and paint a yellow dot. Does this mean they are now allowing anyone to work on Monaro/VXR8?

See my other post on the dealer situation for this. I'm in exactly the same position as you. Had to do exactly the same (2hr round trip) for the tiny little springs (which was in fact a 4 hour drive because the first time they hadn't got the springs in, despite me saying what it was coming in for), and I'm about to do the same again for my cruise control issue.

My local dealer is 4-5 mins up the road max, and they are quite happy to service the car, but if it's anything to do with warranty, they won't touch it. Despite the fact they do everything for the VXR8. It's pathetic.

When I needed the seat spring fixed under the recall, I was told to go to a 'Monaro Agent'so I got the phone number of Vauxhall's Service Director via Google. Phoned her up and explained that it was a stupid policy for non-specialist things. She agreed and arranged fpr my local Vauxhall dealer to fix it!

Have to say she was helpfull and good natured about it!

Just about to try the same on my shot rear wheel bearing!!!

Hi Guys I am new to the forum I had a remap done at Monkfish and a chap told me about this forum.....

I own a Monaro CV8 2004

I work at a Vauxhall main dealer (Sales Manager) so may be able to help you with any problems your having with your local dealers, I have access to recall notes and service / warranty issues directly with the manufacturer and I can talk to people at Luton who can sort your issues.....

Let me know if I can help anyone............

If you could list the flakey door handles, rubbing boot spoiler and notchy hear selector recalls, hang fire, could you list them all?

Don't give him too much grief as I think he is trying to be genuinely helpful here as an entusiastic owner who just happens to work for VX. It would be great if someone like this could help to standardise the kind of aftersales care offered by the network, inlcuding the kind of information offered.

I think it's important to realise that these guys didn't make the cars. They were badged by GM and sent over the pond and these guys have to support them.

I'm in a similar situation, so have some empathy here: We are agents for various manufactures and sell compressors at very low margins. We don't make the stuff but we do have to get our hands dirty when the products don't meet up with aspirations. Where there is a warranty problem we fix them at reduced warranty rates which don't offer a commercial return for our efforts. Maybe the biggest difference is that as a small family company, we fight for our customers interests, not those of the bloody manufacturers who ship out sub standard product and get others to clean it up.
