Alpine CHA-S634 getting swapped for

[t_g106]

the standard 1 that came in my '03' E46 330i. Had the problem when i first got the car, cd changer didnt read the cd's, wouldn't eject etc. etc. so i took it out and fiddled about and it has worked fine ever since.. But one thing that concerns me.. Is it me, or is the BMW Business CD setup, a very poor system in terms of :-
When the music is loud, the bass speakers sound goosed...
The LCD display goes dim when there is a lot of bass..

I've had the speakers in the back shelf replaced (3 months ago) but they are starting to sound like the old ones.

Generally speaking, i think its very poor system so.. i have decided to keep the head unit so it all looks original and change the cd changer. It hasnt arrived yet (next few days hopefully) but i did a bit of research before i bought it and (please tell me if im wrong) i thought that getting a better cd changer would improve sound quality without changing ALL the speakers. (it says that the new changer has 24 bit processing?? for superb sound quality)

So that's the score with my BMW atm..

I hit an oil slick on the road and went up the kerb at 30mph and the steering has never felt right since then...
