Been looking round for an E46 330. Looking around most places seem to be asking around £1k more than the price guide on whatcar.com (and the whatcar price is for a dealer where as I have been looking at independants - dealers seems to want upto £2k more).

For example

Difference - £2.5K!

Seems to be similar everyone I have looked. Are used cars especially overpriced at the moment or are the Whatcar valuations just rubbish?

Try calling WhatCar.com and see if they have one for sale at the prices they suggest.
If not you will just have to pay the market price.

Buying from a pukka bimmer dealer usually carries a hefty premium - in most cases you're payuing for a worthwhile warranty and peace of mind. Not so sure about the indies though. You can get good cars cheaper but you have to be prepared to search, maybe travel fair distances until you find the one for you at the price you're happy to pay.
