Earthing point under dash.
Discussion
Had cause to take the transmission tunnel cover off and thought it may be wise to check the chassis earthing point. It was a bit reluctant to loosen so applied WD40 and eventually got it moving. Was surprised to find that as it loosened it appeared to have a nut on the inside, I was expecting a simple threaded bush. Can one of you lot that has an exposed chassis explain what I should expect. Got all nervous and tightened it up again for fear of whatever the bolt tightens into falling inside.
If you are talking about the earthing point on the drivers side then I can tell you that I removed the bolt completely and nothing dropped off. I had to remove it to replace one of the ring connectors because the wires fell off. The bolts went back again with no problems. There's another earthing point on the passenger side, a bit further forward, but I didn't touch that one.
I got the impression that the bolt screw in to a nut or threaded lug on the chassis.
