As the title suggests, I've got a slight issue with my sunroof!

The car is a 2001 E46 BMW 330ci Sport.

Whilst trying to close it earlier on the sunroof kept closing slightly then returning to open position - after a few attempts pressing the button, I heard a cracking noise.

The sunroof won't close any further then 15% of the hatch opening area now. I've managed to pull the fabric shade thing so at least the cabin is insulated whilst the glass roof is jammed open.

I've found some writeups for the DIY fix fof this; need to remove headliner, remove sunroof cassette assembly from roof panel, find where the broken bracket is jamming the mechanism, remove/replace and re-fit.

I don't really want to tear my car apart for fear of causing damage to something else...

Any ideas where I could get this sorted? I'm located in Solihull, West Midlands.

Thanks in advance,

Ray

Sounds electrical / mechanical. You need to speak to any of the following :

BM Euroservice in Wolverhampton
Midland BM in Olbury
MMT Automotive in Solihull
NCB Autocraft in Earlswood nr Solihull

Hope this helps.

Definitely mechanical, the motor is fine. I tried cranking the mechanism with the allen key and there is resistance in the sunroof itself.

I've used Noel (NCB) for all the work on this car since I bought it and he's great.

I'm going to be popping down on Monday to see him but was wondering if anybody had experienced the same before and whether it's something for a sunroof specialist.

Just hoping it doesn't cost too much!
