My pal was offered the ss daytona he put his name down for a few years back the other day by our local Rolex dealer.Back then it listed at under £4k,now its £6170.
He passed on it and offered it to me,but it seemed too expensive when I only paid £6k for a solid gold full size Yachtmaster(admitedly secondhand but mint)a few years ago.

Nice, I'm looking for a S/S daytona presently but I'm looking for a swap for Deepsea....... in box with stickers still intact as it left the factory. Your mate interested?? I think the value's are pretty much there abouts the same.

He passed on it,the general feeling was that at £4k he would have bought it to have himself(he already has a bi-metal yachtmaster),but at over £6k it was too much.

What is the rrp on the deepsea,I didnt realise that was now over £6k too?

It would seem ridiculous for Rolex to put the price up again rolleyes

Then again, it may be due to the ever shrinking value of the British pound no doubt.

Did they drop the prices when the pound was strong, or did they just think we could afford them.

the current RRP is £5750 soon to be 10-12% on top of that....... Taking into the 6k plus bracket! Nice watch though, but I guess more of a functional watch than a posers Sub.

Seems a bit mad really.

I expect Rolex hope that by simply increasing the price the watches will appear more up market. I doubt it's all currency related.

A few months after Breitling increased their prices the discounts started to get bigger. The end result was, with not much of a haggle you could get a watch at the previous price rolleyes. I wonder if the same applies to this Rolex price rise?
