I was wondering about the running costs for a Quattropotte or a GranTourismo ?

Are they Ferrari level or less? The car would be an everyday use vehicle.

Many thanks.

If you use an Indy its not to bad. At least 1 service probably 2 a year at between £700 and £1500 a pop. If things go wrong, can cost an absolute fortune. Expect to spend £1k per visit to the indy. If you get a good warranty you should be allright. If you want to use a main dealer, double even triple these costs!

Well I am speaking as a 4200 owner. Well mine has got 15000 miles on the clock and I am on my 3rd clutch at £1200 a shot. A few minor niggles. Have had a couple of sensors replaced, but nothing really serious. Your best bet is to visit www.maseratiforum.co.uk there are alot of really helpful guys there who know a hell of alot more than me.

As a 4200 owner with 45k on the clock I'm only on my second clutch.... make of that what you will.

Since November I haven't used the car so much and only since then has it started suffering minor niggles. So they actually work better as everyday cars. It's still cost me less to run than my 911 did year on year and it is so much better biggrin

Do you use a battery tender? I tend to find if you don't do many miles(eg garage queen) and the battery starts getting low, the car starts imagining error messages.

When I got the car it had done 11000 miles, and was on its 2nd clutch. This is due to the previous owner living in central london. The 4200 hates stop start traffic. Eats clutch's. I got a new clutch fitted when I had some other work done on the car, the old one was only 60% gone, but as the garage were removing parts around the clutch to replace sensors it made sense to pay an extra £400 to have a fresh clutch.

just to add the clutch story (06 GS).. I've done 6000 miles on my clutch & just had a report on friday - it's 7% worn. Can't complain at that.. I drive it every day, in traffic, it's been up Umbrail pass& down stelvio, the works. They do need to be calibrated correctly.

Can you expand more on the calibration of the clutch? Was yours done at an indy or dealer?

Thanks

Phil

The previous owner of my car had it done at a main dealer, I had it done at a well respected Indy. Although the Indy did point out that when the last clutch was done, a couple of components were not replaced out of lazyness or cost cutting from the main dealer.

I know that the software on the CC has been much improved and therefore extending the life of a clutch.

I drive a QP every day and love it! If buying second hand try to get one that has the free 3 year servicing deal still intact, worth a massive amount of money if you use main dealers. If going for an older model then I would budget between £2-£3k for service, tyres and a good warranty. Whilst this may not be exactly cheap, it is no where near Ferrari levels and they really do respond well to every day use. Best of luck.

Everything so far has been with the main dealers (Little aston or Maranello's) but it's just about to come out of it's dealer warranty so would happily take it to Emblem or Grimaldi's (I'm down by Reading). Both have a good reputation for service & both are cheaper than the main dealer network.

Do you know if the extended maserati warranty beyond 3 years is any good? I have that maserati assist is quite good, not sure if the extended warranty comes with this.

Never used maserati assist but egham are currently offering ferrari power warranties on all cars up to 7 years. Starting as full cover for the first 2 years & dropping down to drive train etc on year 7. No idea on the costs though. To be honest, there are a few 3rd party warranty companies which are worth investigating.

The Maserati extended warranty is virtually as good as the standard 3 year one and if offered I would be tempted to take it. When I bought my Coupe several years ago Maserati gave it the extended Trident warranty as it was over 3 years old. When that expired I was not able to renew as the car was over 4 years old and the Trident could not go past 4 years. Instead I took out a Warranty Wise product which was nearly as comprehensive but which was from recollection just over £1000. I think the Trident would have been slightly more (if it had been available to me) but was better and also came with Maserati Assist, who I have always found to be very good to use, not that I have used them very much. Hope this helps.

Will a Ferrari Power warranty cover a Maserati? I was always under the impression that it wasn't.
