slight smell of petrol

Hi guys

As the weather has been nice the roof has been off. I have noticed a wiff of petrol when driving along not really strong but enough to get on your nerves after a while. Is this normal? Or had I better check some lines and if so which ones?

Not normal, check for leaks(obviously) in lines/system and/or blockage in the line to the charcol canistor running from fuel tank to canistor in front o/s wing.

Get it checked out ASAP... I remember TUSCANSI..... he smelt petrol for weeks and then look what happened.... probably the carbon canister but DO NOT take any chances.

Also check the fuel hose that goes from the tank to the fuel pump. (This is prone to perishing at an astonishing rate due to it being positioned so close to the exhaust).

exactly the same thing happened to me this weekend. As Jim pointed out the fuel hose that goes from the tank to the fuel pump had perished and fuel was leaking on to the exhaust system. Clearly hugely dangerous, i dread to think what might have happened if i hadn't noticed the smell. It's not an obvious leak until the engine's switched on and the fuel pump's running- i'd recomend not driving the car until it's checked

Can anyone post a pic of this pipe/position or is it easy to see once under the car?

it's an arse to get to- you need to take the rear driver's side wheel off, as you look at the car the pipe is top left above the exhaust. You can get to the other side of it by pulling some of the trim in the boot away to get to the fuel tank. I don't have any pics unfortunately.
