How good is the Tamora

I currently drive a 997 C2S and love the power but am looking for an equally powerful second car with a soft top
Ive read up about the Tamora, is it that much fun? and any tips on what to look out for when looking over used models?

I contemplated a little while ago going from the Tamora to a 997 C2S.

After driving the porker, I was left a little cold - Sure the porker has more technology and handled a lot better, but..... it had no soul. I also found the porker felt very slow by comparison.

Have a drive in a Tamora and you'll see what I mean. Too raw for some, but I love 'em.

Yes, my car

Good service history, especially 12K service has been done when it is supposed to have been done, some skint owners ask not to do the tappets when selling so check it's been done. Don't be scared off from cars that have had engine rebuilds, especially early cars. Some cars leak, check for water marks on the carpets behind seats and around the door apertures. When viewing ask the owner to have the car cold so you can hear and see how it ticks over along with the amount of smoke out the back. If the car struggles to tick over from cold and it has had a service recently there could be something more to it than just reseeting the throttle bodies. lots of smoke could mean worn valve guides, this will be more apparant on higher milage cars without a rebuild.

Look under the front valance at look at the damage (spped bumps!), all will have some scraping but check around the mouth for stress cracks from hard grounding.

Good luck with your search. Plenty of bargains to be had at the moment, wish I was buying now.

Speed6 engine ownership prospects are getting better all the time, what with the development work being done by Racing Green, TVR Power, and the like.

The tamora is an awesome car always brings a smile to my face

I brought here eighteen months ago

Mine is used daily and as far as costs go is similar to any other high performance car

Many say that buying a later car is better however don't discount an early car as it may have had any niggles ironed out (I went for a later facelift car as in my opinion it improved the front end)

I would say buy on condition with a full service history if buying privately get it inspected by a specialist (offer to go halves with the vendor) alternatively if worried about a rebuild get one that has been done recently

Lot's of bargains around at the moment go test drive one and see for your self

Im considering one i view it as a modern day chim.
I would like to hear from owners who have upgraded from the chim for a driving perspective.
Im aware of the engine problems but know nothing else about the car.
This would be a ideal upgrade for me as i love cabs.
Suppose the biggest problem is getting rid of mine don't want to give it away on a px

TBH I'd say the Tuscan 2 convertible is the modern-day Chimaera

I went from Chim to a Tamora over 3 years ago. Handling is far superior, and power is better than my 4ltr Chim. Easier to drive around town too.

Guessed on the power but was hoping it was easier to drive because the wife won't drive the chim because clutch is heavy.
Steering is'nt the lightest even with PAS.

Definitely lighter. My Sagaris is far lighter on the clutch and steering than my Chimaera was, and the t-cars are all very similar so the Tamora will be the same.

John I did track them all down but I'm blowed if I can find the info, silly me.One was Midas Yellow mine is Mystic Black Pearl.What are your colours?

Yes the yellow one belongs to Kjeld{N Yorks},The red to Mrs S, and yours the black. dont know about the others.
