I've been quoted £185 to have the above replaced on a 535d (@33,000 miles).

Is this about right, or is cheaper possible?

Am posting from phone, so apologies for quasi-txt spk smile

Although expensive, it's actually quite cheap for a Dealer. Most quote over £200 just for the oil service.

Jules.

OK, then not bad as Dealer's charge over £200 for just an oil service.

Maybe a stupid question, but is the "microfilter" just the oil fiter? If so, why the silly name? Or is it a pollen filter?

Also known as the cabin air filter - there may be 0, 1 or 2 of these depending on the model of the car, and some can be a right PITA to change.

There are 2 filters and if they use the correct active carbon filters they're almost £50 for the pair.

Microfilters take 2 minutes to do - honestly, save your money and change them yourself if they're billing for an oil change.

You could also supply your own oil and save a few £ too.
