Hello, looking to repaint the calipers on my T350.Not a quick lick of paint while still on car,I was thinking more stripped down, blasted and either sprayed or even powder coated. Is powdercoat ok temp wise or should I use caliper paint which I have used in the past but seems very easy to chip? Thanks in advance for any advice,Steve.

I had my callipers rebuilt and was given the option of paint or powder coat...

I chose to save £30 and had them painted... BIG mistake..

Within weeks the paint has started to look a bit rubbish... granted they proberably used cheap paint, but its still not an ideal solution..

You need to send them to someone like bid red who can do aviation grade coatings.... that would stick like h@t Sht1e and last a long time... not cheap though!

Agree : Get them powder coated. Obviously make sure that they're using a VHT (Very Hight Temp) coating.

If you do choose to paint them, you really need to get them sand blasted before painting, as any surface rust at all stops the paint from keying directly to the metal, causing the paint to start blistering when the calipers get hot due to the small air pockets between the surface rust and the paint.

I have just repainted mine by hand, did about 4 coats with specific high temperature caliper paint. It will be interesting to see how long they last!

Silver Hammerite smooth has been OK on mine (Chimaera that is, Tuscan front ones are black, rears silvery/gold and don't need painting yet)....Hammerite on rocker covers OK too.

I've used http://www.biggred.co.uk/ in the past, with very good results.

That said, I don't know what the T350 has on it - basically everything they've ever done for me has been a Ford caliper! (TVR S, TVR Chimaera, Ford Mondeo)

I hammerited mine black two years ago and no sign of flaking or rusting.
