Business headunit display sometimes doesn't work

Hi guys,
Just in the last week or so my Business head unit has started playing up in my 2007 123d. Sometimes it doesn't display anything, including the time. Sometimes when the display is working and I skip a track the track number or name of the song doesn't change. It may finally catch up or not, we're talking 10 minutes here. Only turning off and on the ignition works.
I have the BMW glovebox ipod kit fitted if that makes any difference? It's never worked properly. If I leave the car parked for more than 10 minutes, when I come back to the car the ipod doesn't kick off from where I left it, like CD's do.
Anyway, I know it's a warranty job, but is there a fix I can do? Anyone pushed for a business head unit to be replaced with Professional one and pay the difference? Are they likely to entertain this?
