By eck, that could actually work. I'd like to see the inside of the silencer.

Could this be an application from a jetboat? Means the turbo doesn't need bolted to anything (other than the exhaust), and is very easily interchangable with other engine applications

I guess the flow is piped inside the silencers directly to the exhaust turbine, and all the 'silencing' is done post turbo.

I think thats quite interesting biggrin

and before anyone says it...

I know turbo chargers need exhaust heat and velocity to run and spool up quickly, so in a car this would be a rubbish idea.

In a jetboat, throttle control is fairly constant (ie: static high rpm running), and spool up time is definitely a secondary concern in river marathon runs (as opposed to jetsprinting!). The exhaust length is very short, and using mufflers saves having under boat exits, especially where either 80db or 95db maximum limits are imposed.

I'm not saying here that this is how I would build a boat motor hehe , just that it is feasible that it could work.

I like jet boats and when I retire 'back home' I'll ditch the car and stick the engine into a jet boat smile
