Anyone been to the above hotel/spa. I live down the road, but have never been, so today on my day off I went up with the g/f to check it out. I am not of upper class decent, but proud of my working class roots. I turned up relatively smart in smart casual jeans and a shirt and logo free jumper. Went into the atrium and went through to the reception and asked where we could grab a tea etc.

The lady directed me through to the right of the building and into a reception area before going into the resturant. I noticed immediately that this room was full of fat cats and kept wifes sipping on their tipple with their ice buckets housing Champagne bottles of whatever value.

We grabbed a seat and started chatting expecting one of the many waiting staff to take our order. 10 minutes passed and a lot of failed eye contact asked a passing member of staff if we could order a pot of tea. "have you booked?" was the reply to which I replied "no". First time I've ever booked to have a drink in a hotel but hey ho. She left to the back room not to appear. Another 5 minutes passed and we simply got up and left.

So on this recommendation alone avoid this place like the plague. Rudeness does not justify how us mere peasants were treated. I passed the comment book on the way out and added my own little vexed comment.

Big disappointment, but you just know when you are just above your league in some places. Drove down the road, stopped off at a local pub we have been in a few times and had a cider and a bowl of chips biggrin

Oh well smile

I've been in there. Nice rooms, but it is a fairly snooty atmosphere, even for someone of my station hehe... didn't stop me from getting rat arsed at the party I was attending mind you!

I did consider leaving sets of '11s' down the private estate road.

Ironic passing the staff car park, that it was full of Luton's finest the Vauxhall Corsa/Astra and I suppose the chief grunts Vectra biggrin. The only courtesy I was shown was by the porter smile
