High torque (euro) software chip for US 98+ TT V8?
Discussion
hello guys, I am new to this forum and very excited to learn about everything there is to know about the newer 98+ espirit V8TT. I have read the software options but I do not want to void warranty so I was wondering if anyone has tried "high torque" chip which is basically just the euro stock chip? I hear HP stays same but torque is boosted alot yet i do not see any dyno proven numbers or graphs. Anyone have any comments on this? Thanks for help and I'm excited to now be on this board

The High-Torque ECMs for the V8 are available thru a dealer.... Clyde can't sell it to you. However, here are the part numbers for ECMs....
A918E9798SX - High-Torque ECM for 97-98 V8
A918E9901SX - High-Torque ECM for 99-01 V8
Both of these had a list price of $400 USD about a year ago. Also these do NOT void your warranty. They also do not increase your available torque. The High-Torque ECM widens the torque band so you have more of it at lower RPMs in the lower gears mainly to make the car more driveable in normal traffic conditions.
I have driven a 1999 V8 with the standard ECM and it seems to come to life at 4000 RPM and a nice whack in the back as the tach swings to 6000+. The 2000MY uses the Sport 350 ECM mappings and it's torque comes in pretty strong around 3000 RPM. I have not yet diven a V8 with the High-Torque ECM noted above but needless to say it is a more dramatic change for the earlier model years.
And for interest, the Race ECM is available at $2200 list and it's p/n is: A918E0362K. LCU also considers it exclusively for track use (it's not street legal) and voids your warranty .

Hey guys thanks for responce.
I like that it does not void warranty and that it is an official Lotus part so i know it will work as promised. but again no one seems to have physical numbers on HOW MUCH (quantitatively) torque is actually gained by the high torque upgrade (like on dyno). Also will this extra torque cause more problems for the transmission since more stress is being put on it. the tranny is already so weak the last thing i wanna do is cause it to explode.
