Hi

My 1.6k supersport needed a new sump pan from Caterham. At that time I also replaced the oil pressure sendor. But it's a puzzler. Despite the mechanical oil pressure gauge invariably showing 40 - 60 psi, the low oil pressure light glows bright. It seems to glow brighter from cold, dimming as the oil thins, like it's sensing the wrong way around. So I'm a bit mystified, and haven't kept the old sendor for comparison. Any ideas ? Was there a choice of sendors ? Doesn't seem likely to be a dodgy earth, as the light is off when the ignition is on but not started.

cheers
Roger

If it's wired up to a warning light it should be a switch rather than a proportional sender. Are you sure you haven't fitted the pressure transducer for an electrical pressure gauge instead of a switch?
