Was thinking of organising a treasure hunt in and around Aberdeen with all proceeds going to a local charity. Would be a Sunday afternoon in June or July, take a few hours and cost £10 per car, not per person.
If there is a lot of interest we could make it a Saturday afternoon with drinks and a party at night. I have a venue in mind which has plenty of parking and wouldn't cost anything for the day as a start finish point unless we all want a bacon roll to start with! They only other cost would be for a DJ and buffet if it was to continue into the night!

All i'm looking for just now is a level of interest, possible dates and weather a Saturday or Sunday would be prefered.

I've done a few of these in the past and it's usually a good laugh and a bit of fun running around the countryside seeing other entrants going the opposite way to you!

Don't worry if you've not got a supercar, anything will do, if you want to win (there will be prizes donated i hope!) the more people in your car the better! laugh

Hope this goes down well, just leave your name below and prefered date, thanks.

Dave

Glad you don't mind coming all the way up for a run around on a Sunday afternoon! Any dates that are better suited to you? I'll be trying my best to avoid F1 weekends.

It's not looking good ferobert, i'll give it another week or so, if there is no more interest i'll have to pull it.

Well I don't know when I will be offshore so just fix a date that is good for everyone else and I will hopefully be around. Will see if I can get a few more folk interested in the idea as well...

Had a good look at the calender and think that Sunday 9th August is pretty good. Nothing really around it, so can be pulled forward a week or pushed back a week for any reason.

Anyone know of anything that i don't on that date?

I'm back at uni in the last week of April so start to first weeks in May would be good from then on in...Why not take it round areas which are really beautiful...A lot of people in another post have mentioned Cairn o Mount in an Aberdeen road section inc me...It would be good to leave the city and have fun...Let me know more info...I'm at uni...and students always love cheap exciting fun which is for charity...personally I love fast cars LOL...but seriously...let me know more and I'll post something on the internal internet site at Aberdeen uni...and write it in a way people will wnat to join in!

Not that far away...and can be looped around the city and surrounding area! Wouldn't even require that much fuel either...I can drive city centre to top of mountain and back at a resonable pace for a fiver of V Power in my BMW!

Don't worry the majority of the drive will be out of the city, taking in as many good roads as possible. This one will be about the drive as well as finding the answers! Looking to get a 60-100 mile route, that's if you get the answers right first time! wink

What sort of entry, prize/incentive were you thinking? Also apart from Pistonheads how were you planning advertising this??

As i said at the start, £10 a car and word of mouth is the main form of advertising. It would be nice to raise £100-£200 so all it really needs is 10 to 20 cars. Don't worry about prizes, i'll be sorting that out now that a date is looking set. Money will be paid on the day, that way if something comes up and you can't make, it's not a disaster. 1 prize i know of already will be a nice Magnum of Champagne for the winning car, donated by me! Starting point will be set soon, just need to confirm a few things.

Here's to a good day out!!

Think I have managed to persuade a couple of other folk to come along as well. They may or may not have a fast car at that point in time though wink

What charity would the money be donated to? What type of cars you aiming for Micra's, Zonda's or anybody?

It would be good to get a range and see what happens....

The charity is undecided at this point. I was thinking about Alford Maternity, as that is where my daughter was just born and they run a very tight ship with not enough money from the NHS, but with all that has happened in the last couple of days in Aberdeen, i'm going to do some research and find out if there is a charity for the families of oil workers who lose a loved one.

As for cars, anything is good in the name of charity! Zondas are great, but if we get a choice of 20 Micras or 2 Zondas, on this occasion i'll take the Micras!!

Sounds good to me, date dependant.

I'll donate a nice bottle of whisky too.

What's the charity?

Date is going to be Sunday 9th August, 10am in Aberdeen(flexible on the time at the moment). Charity will either be Alford Maternity or if there is a charity for the families of oil workers who have lost a loved one offshore, maybe someone else will be able to tell me if there is one? If there is a big enough turn out i might split it as they are both fantastic causes.

Looks like I may be onshore for this and it sounds like fun. You can put me down as a provisional. If your looking for a good offshore charity to donate to, you could do worse than RNLI.
