Hi All,

Just wanted to give you a bit of feedback on some upgrades recently had done to 'Burt'(1999 4.5 63k)

1. Emerald ECU
2. Intrax suspension (plus poly bushes all round)
3. Quaife ATB diff

Had these in for about 3 months now and they have completely transformed the car, whilst the remap didn't produce anymore power (still stuck at 375 bhp) the delivery is alot more progressive and smoother as you press the 'fun' pedal, which helps me not to make so many mistakes!

The Intrax I know are expensive but they are amazing, car feels more balanced and poised, you get great feedback and has really increased my confidence in driving the car at speed around bendy bits.

The Quaife ATB diff was a nightmare to get fitted requiring being sent back to Quaife for them to tinker with it before it would fit housing. I also needed new drive shafts so I was waiting for about 6 weeks to get it in the car. Was it worth it? Definitely! This is an awesome piece of kit. On a full bore run, red lining at each gear change the grip is incredible, not the slightest hint of a rear end wiggle, granted in the wet this may be different but we don't like the rain so we don't play out on those days.

In essence then IMHO 3 upgrades that really do work together to transform the cerbera.

Can't wait for my next track day to see how much time I can now trim

Funnily enough, my car goes by the name of Bertie smile

Ive had the INTRAX on for 2 and a bit years now. They really are a classy piece of kit. Absoulutely convinced that on a couple of occassions they have been the difference between an "OMG I got round the corner" moment and an "oh st, I hit the barrier" moment hehe

What's the deal on the Intrax then?

Nitrons, Gaz Golds, Ohlins etc

What is a man supposed to put on his birthday list?

Intrax are up there with Nitrons and Ohlins - priced somewhere between the two.

I'm not the best at explaining technical stuff but there's an interesting link about the Quaife ATB differential and how it works here http://www.quaife.co.uk/What-is-a-Quaife-ATB-diffe...

The reason I change it for the hydra trak was mine wasn't working very well and thought well its 10 yrs old technology, there's got to be something better and boy there is!

Regarding whats best Nitrons, Ohlins or Intrax, there all pretty much the same Ohlins where 30 quid more expensive but I liked what I heard about Intrax particularly their performance and reliability have a look at http://www.intraxracing.nl/?lang=EN. Incedently I did have nitrons fitted to car originally but they where tired.

FUBAR I did read your comments about them when you got them so that helped lots cheers smile

Our Hydratrak (11years/80k miles old) had also given up... though we reckon it may have given up a few years ago, so we cant really do a fair comparison, so its interesting to hear your thoughts on standard vs ATB. thumbup

very interesting to hear about your experience with the Quaife. Some of the early Cerbs just had a standard limited slip diff, sounds like as our cars get older even the standard LSD diff is better than the hydra track, or at least more predictable.

How much was the Quaife, couldn't find it listed on the website?

I've been round the same loop as my Nitrons have done 25k miles on the car and are in need of a rebuild. I've not had a problem with them in all that time. The central theme that I've picked up from various suspension folks is that if the compression to rebound ratio is wrong for one way adjustables then it's not possible to ever get the setup spot on for the car. Since I already have Nitrons fitted it's cheaper to get them rebuilt to a two or even three way spec than the price of swapping to Ohlins/Intrax one way adjustables ... so that's the path I'm on currently.

For me I needed something idiot proof, if you gave me lots of stuff to change and fiddle with I'd be in a ditch first time out. So I went for the Intrax 1K2" “2-way adjustable mono tube : high end modular built” option. Just out of interest how much is it to get the nitrons rebuilt as I have a set on my garage floor gathering dust.

Erich,

Think I paid just under £800 plus fitting, but you may also need new drive shafts, apparently there are lots of different types and lengths and can be pot luck what was factory fitted. If you interested Scole Engineering went through the pain with me. Quaife don't manufacture these as standard for TVR but I believe they did a bulk tool up sometime ago for some TVR owners (do a search on Quaife ATB in all TVR forums).

It's a pain but its worth it.

Rebuilt as a one way they're ~£50 a corner from memory. You could either get them rebuilt or sell them as is - someone else may want them rebuilt to a different spec, so it may not be worth doing anything more than cleaning them up for sale.

Cheers Steve.

I only have 2 corners though as I gave a pair to a friend in need.
