Just popped to the post office.....hello whats that?

Mobile gatso on the roadside in our village. So on way back from post office I stop & have look, sure enough nasty little thing parked up on kerbside, two scamera operators on the other side (hidden in a junction).

I said to the chap "hello, is this an accident black spot then?!"

"not sure, were here not as the Camera Partnership" came a reply

"How's that then" I asked

"The lady here is a police officer & were on police duty due to complaints of speeding motorists by the locals, it's police duty not as the camera partnership hence we don't need signs or need to be seen!". He says

"Is this a dangerous spot/" then asked the chap?..

I'm pretty sure it is'nt, how many have you got so far?" I replied

"Not many" he says & I left em to it

-------

OK so I thought there had to be TWO police officers in the car if it wasn't to APCO guidelines??????

Anyone correct me on this, otherwise there's no corrabative evidence.

Theres not a problem and the only time that you 'need' 2 Police Officers is to give an opinion on a speeding vehicle where theres no speed detection device.

The last time I spoke to two chaps with one of these mobile gatso's I asked about the no white markings on the road. They said it was not a problem as they were two Police Officers who would corrabarate that a car was speeding & they could/would come back & measure any markings on the road if need be.

cheers

I thought you only needed 1 officer to give an opinion on a speeding motorist ? ie: he would be considered an 'expert' on the matter & no backup (in the shape of another BiB) would be needed

The dorset cameras have a web site by the way that list the locations they are at.

There only needs to be 2 'things' ref the evidence. The camera and one PC count.

Yep they have a list with this little disclaimer at the bottom:

"The location of the mobile camera operations is given for guidance only. The Dorset Safety Camera Partnership reserves the right to amend operational locations of mobile cameras without prior notice."

So that list is basically worth nothing. Don't trust them as far as I could throw them.

So let me get this right, the public phones up and state there is a speeding problem, so the police see a chance to make some easy money and take 2 bib off normal duty to raise some cash and stop chasing robbers etc ?

nice

Still speed kills - must have been carnage

Errr thats the point, this location WAS NOT on the website, that I check frequently by the way.

They had a partnership van, but were on Police duties, which was not partnership.

Anyway I saw them again later when it was DARK!, they'd move the little blighter up the road a bit, to where I assume they could nab more people.
