OK, So what on earth did this to my fence?

I had a car, an old shape Range Rover end up on its roof in my yard a couple of years ago (it is a dodgy off camber right, sometimes gravelly and the poor chap was drunk so you cant really blame him for it!) and have only this weekend been trimming back the foliage in the area after not having been down there for years, when I found this!

Thats 3/4 Inch Iron bar, difficult to see scale on the pciture, I tried to bend it and I am a fit'ish lad and it wouldnt move a smidge. So who did this? Arnie visit Suffolk and have a Paddy with my poor fence? Aliens? High temeperature from burning jet fuel?

You could get an Oxy on it but it would take a long time to heat up enough of the bar to bend it so nicely, and its in the middle of my field why would someone bother?

That looks like nearly inch diameter!

you 'might' be able to bend it with a very long extension pipe sleeved over it... but not into such a tight knot round an upright!

Well thats whats worrying me! An abominable snowman who had just tripped over the fence? As you say you would get a bar on it but not through the loops of the "knot".

They probably stuck a scaffold pole on the end and simply wrapped it round.

Must have been done during that hot spell last summer when the metal would have been softer. Of course now it is colder so is harder!

Darn, I didnt check if it was Uri driving the Rangey, perhaps he bent it out of the way BEFORE he went through, that makes sense, probably just Uri.

Looks like whoever was doing the fence got interrupted halfway through the knot.
