...and I absolutely love it! Company E92 325i goes back next week and after being gazumped on a 335i and struggling to find one that ticked all the boxes, I followed the advice of a friend and test drove a 130i. Looked at a few but stumbled across one which ticked all of the boxes and a deal was done!

It is a 2007 130i 3dr M Sport in silver which was a showroom car initially so has literally every single option fitted. Spec is as follows:

Black heated electric leather seats with memory
Adaptive xenons (makes a big difference down the country lanes where I live)
Hifi speaker system
Prof Navi
Voice control
Bluetooth
Connected drive
F+R PDC
Aero rear spoiler
BMW Performance brakes front and rear
BMW Performance 18" wheels with Conti Sport Contacts
BMW Performance exhaust
BMW Performance short shift

The handling is fantastic and the exhaust sounds superb - quiet when cruising but a nice burble under load and a few pops and crackles on overrun.

The car is a LOT of fun to drive and certainly feels as quick as my old E36 M3 GT. Ride is pretty good now the RFTs have gone and the brakes are fanflippintastic.

34mpg on a motorway cruise and 27mpg whilst driving like a tool, so at least 20% better on fuel than the 325i too.

Will stick some piccies up once I've given it a wash!

I wasn't fully sold on the wheels at first but now I have lived with them for a few days I think they look the nuts! Lightweight as well so I am sure I can feel the benefits of that reduced unsprung mass!

I reckon the 1 series is the best drivers car BMW make at the moment, it is the closest to true BMW roots of any other BMW, feels like a modern E30.

Enjoy!

Nice car, particularly with the BMW performance options.

....is this the case?; the length of the 1-series option list is mind boggling!

Hope you enjoy.

I own and love my 1 series but I do agree that is a little far fetched. Its also a good 300kg heavier than an E30 - we wont see weights the likes again without cleaver Lotus aluminium chassis.

That looks great, welcome to the club!

May I ask what Sir paid for such a well-specced vehicle?

Having owned an E30 325i, I understand where our comrade is coming from. The 1 series I tried really did feel a lot like an E30, and feels a good deal lighter than (a) a 3 series, and (b) than it really is.
