I have just fitted some new tyres to my chimp, changing from S02 to Goodyear F1, Now I can hardly keep the car on the road at high speed ( 120mph + ). Can any body recommend a good tyre to fit which will give the car high speed stability?

Are you sure that the tyre pressures are correct.

I have never had a problem with GY Eagle F1s even at 140+ speeds.

Check the tyre pressures and bed them in properly before you condemn them, but S02 (if you can lay hands on any more) and S03 are a very good safe bet.

Got GY Eagles also and recorded 145 mph (GPS recorded) on Autobahn in June - like a train, straight & true - but there were no leaves about then.........!!!

Sounds like a full geometry check might be worthwhile - and presume they did fit them on the right way round? Check the arrows!

Try an extra PSI or 2 - I found that this helps things (although I still don't like them)

Note - my experience of them is purely on my Impreza - my Chimaera is still happily using SO2PPs

peebs, what was wrong with the S02's then to make you change...? they are still plentiful (and now quite cheap (about £80-£90 a corner for 245 PP's)) in my neck of the woods..

Cheers
Matt.
