Hi all,

Thinking about coming back into the fold but have no idea how to price the following car as it's a Cat D and have a few mods:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/957477.htm

Anybody have any ideas, good price or a little high? Anybody know the car?

Regards,

Rob

I do not know it, sorry, but I was looking at it earlier. It does seem quite good value (but then I am no expert)

Should be no impact on insurance. The issue with CAT D's is in the case of chassis damage not spotted and trying to sell the thing on at a later date.

How about the price given it's a CAT D - too high?

Cat D can be major issues but can also be as simple as a clam as stated in ad - luck of the drawer.

Personally if I was to purchase I would like to get her checked over with a specialist and take her for a drive compared to others but this will still be on the records if you come to sell down the line and the next owner will have the same questions...

Don't know the car but 160 upgrades are not cheap and this has been owned by the guy and serviced regularly since 2007 (month???) with a large number of good mods plus you can always sell the hard top for £500 - £700 and replace with a soft top as most of us do.

As with all cars, it's worth what you are willing to pay - 7k with thoses mods doesn't sound horrific and I guess there is still room for an agreed figure.

On the fence I know but you have to look at it as marmite.

As long as you are sure that the damage was clam only and no chassis damage took place. It does seem a little fishy... Front clam replacement is £4k tops (from a dealer less from a specialist), why would the car be a right off for that little damage?

I know what you mean - is the front crash structure replaceable? Perhaps it includes that?

Anyway, I'm torn as to what to get at the moment. I have been hankering after a 7 type weekend toy, but that will mean knocking down a wall to park it off road. This car would be cheaper and satiate my car lust over the summer while keeping my wall. On the other hand there is a lovely S2 SC Honda on Seloc, that is a car I have wanted for years!

Depends on value of the car. Mine 160 had a new front and rear clam fitted by lotus. They could have easily been repaired as it was so minor but Lotus wont fix fiberglass, they replace. As the cost, think it was around £7K plus some other things. And its not a CAT anything too. Ask the buyer if he has some photos of the damage. I kept pics of mine for this very reason.

Not sure but after I met Bambi's mum, I had front clam, crash structure and light assy with custom paint job (Had to get em wonky) for £4.5k. Main dealer price. I think I read in the advert that the crash damage was only front clam. If as a catD it is worth £7k then my bullst sence is tingling.

Has it gone from the classifieds? The 147bhp might be at the wheels, so more than 160 at the crank.
