£1000 for the week - flight & accoms.
I have found a great palce on Lanzarote for £440 for the week for accomodation. but cannot get flights for under £500.
Wife woul dhappily do Tunisia, Morocco or the Canaries (or any Greek Island).
I am not keen on Tunisia or Morocco, as I speak a little Spanish and need to practice for a week!

Flexibilty is the key to cheap flights e.g. With Monarch, fly out to tenerife on 12-Apr, return on 21-Apr you get a 9 day holiday and total for flights will be £408 all in (flying from Luton). If you book a bit further in advance and pick your dates carefully you can reduce that more. Book flights direct with the airline and you can play around with the dates and wont pay a booking fee.
E.g. I took wife and 2 kids to Tenerife in December paid £400 all in for return flights for all of us including extra bags and premium seat for me (I have long legs).
I booked my accomodation through ASDA travel last time, I was amazed to find they were £50 cheaper than anywhere else on the net !
ETA also monarch - Lanzarote out on 13th back on 20th £380 all in (inc taxes and charges). But you will have to pay them £10 a bag for hold luggage
Are those dates you have chosen in the school holidays - the flights are stupidly expensive during that period !

Why not morcco?, I don't like Tunisia but Morocco is fab, and they speak French there!
I have been to both places and intend on revisiting morocco in summer - by car!
As you are looking at such popular destinations, why not book a package?
Are you flexible on dates at all? How about Dubai?
