If this has been covered, apologies. However the search function turned up nothing.

Am having problems maintaining a connection between a Blackberry 9000 and the VW Premium Phone Package.

I can set up the connection using the rSAP bluetooth connection, but it is temperamental to say the least.

Dealer is being no help, just spouts that if the phone has rSAP it should work.

Anyone here have knowledge or tips to make the connection better?

Basically, after setting up, if you get out of the car and terminate the connection to re-establish the device pairing you have to reconnect. From the start, including entering the passcodes etc.

On my Nokia I have no problems at all. So I don't think it is a problems with the system, more of a incompatibility issue.

Thanks

I heard some story about BB's and the type of bluetooth they used, somthing about the encryption on it, as goverment forces (FBI/MI5 etc) use them...could be a load of rubish though as my BB Perl works fine with the sony bluetooth kit i have, but won't pair with the A6 phone kit?

I have had no joy connecting my Bold upto my Passat. The Premium Kit is designed by Nokia, so has no issues working with Nokia's, but BB's are unknown territory.

It works for some, not for others, with no explanation why. I only hope that when the car is next serviced, they update the software on it. Stupid that there isn't just one protocal for bluetooth rSAP really.

Check out other blackberry forums such as those on the blackberry site and crackberry, it might give you some pointers.

My boss has the same issue and was told his software needed updating by VW, at the cost of £350

So he bought a Nokia......

forget that! The car is leased through VWFS and they know that they are at risk of losing our business as they won't offer re-negogiation on any contract, so perhaps pressure can be put on the dealer, if they won't play ball.

It can't cost that much to update the software ...

Ok have trawled the BB forums.

No joy. Seems the BB has rSAP - which is a Nokia format and BB lease the software from Nokia but as it wasn't designed for the BB it still requires work.

However, as stated VW premium kits work on an adhoc basis with BB's - it seems I am lucky to be able to connect at all.

Has anyone used the cradle in the arm rest to connect instead? Is that a way forward?

Just to point out, I am abroad and if you think UK dealers are bad, try one staffed by the French! Customer service? Que?

My blackberry 8830 works fine with A6 bluetooth, downloads directory etc. U need to ask the Blackberry to look for audio accessories and if i remember rightly it calls my car a headsetr before it calls it an Audi.

Not sure if the VW version is the same as the A6 bluetooth.

VAG does not support all types of BB... I have the same problem with my A4 B8, which i just got and my BB does not transfer the address book... it works without anyu problem but without all the in screen/steering wheel options.... which sucks... I am thinking about geting a Nokia because almost all models are supported by VAG bluetooth systems..
