Hi guys freind of mine needs to find a rear subframe for his 72 mini as he has just discovered a hairline crack in his resto project as he is worried it will fail his mot on it. Any advice and help will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

If it's a hairline crack I doubt that the mot guys would notice. If it was my car I'd be welding it up - the rear subframes tend to be quite weak metal so an extra weld will probably stiffen it up!

For the price of the frame if you can do the work your self replace it. They normaly rust so a crack is not good.

If you do not change it check why it has cracked

rear subframe is not to expensive to buy about £200. its the way forward. while were on the subject if his front subframe ever needs replacing i have a one for sale.

ive just thrown away this rear sub frame below after repairing it. i patched it up and cleaned it up as much as i could but it was badly pitted in some areas...i primed and painted it and left it in the garden for about 6 weeks and is riddled in rust allready, gud job i didnt fit it

off the subject heres my engine after hours of hard work, cant wait till i have the money to start the build
