Any Jag Mechanics Here?

Re: STR 2005 43k:
While my recent purchase was in my local garage (not Jag main dealer) to get the fuel cap issue resolved, they commented on a rattle on start-up when the car was cold, they thought it sounded like a bloomin' diesel! They seemed to think that it could have been the timing chain tensioners! When I originally picked the car up, the engine was already warmed up, so I was unaware of this issue, however I have only had the car for just over one week and when it is started up first thing in the morning , the rattle is not there, only a wee squeak from one of the belts. It is only after the car has had a run and then cooled down completely that the rattle is apparent.Sometimes it is only audible for a very short period, sometimes a bit longer. Without taking the cam covers off, to an experienced ear is this issue easy to diagnose? The car is covered by a warranty, but from the supplying dealer only, who are a 300 and odd mile drive away. am I being over cautious , or is it a case that "they all do that sir". Any input greatly appreciated, as I really don't want to drive all the way back to make a complete tit out of myself!
Is this a common issue on cars of this year ?
Thanks
Steve

Why not take it to your local Jag dealer or independent & ask them to quote you for a repair price? Then ring your supplying garage / warranty company & get permission for the local dealer / specialist to carry out the work.
This is what I did a couple of years ago with an X-type. After permission was granted I paid for the work, sent of the reciept to the warranty people & recieved a cheque for the full amount in the post a few days later.
