Is that cheap for a 3R, £26,500? Under 11000 miles, black and looks very nice in the pictures. 5 speed box, is that good or bad?
Thought it may have been worth 30K?

see a previous thread where I asked about this car

it would appear that 5 speed box isn't ideal
and also, the car does not have the baffled sump

I was interested also but seeing as I want it for track work the above is a problem.

It is well priced though as I know they will take £23k

I've thought about getting one of these.

What's the problem with the 5 spd box?

No problem with the 5-speed Gearbox it's just that it didn't have a LSD as standard and problems can occur with breaking the diff.
The gearbox can be fitted with a LSD but means removal etc.

surly there is no more risk with a 5 speed box than there is with a 6 speed box ?? afterall they are prone to problems with 5th gear !!

The 5-speed is just as strong as the 6-speed it's only really the diff that's the problem, early 3r's with the 6-speed only had a standard diff so can suffer the same problem and as you say 5th is the weak part of the standard 6-speed.

Nobody knows. Until someone with a proper diff on a 5 speed runs a lot of torque it'll be hard to say.

Ok , makes sense , can you fit the diff in the box without removing engine ??

anyone know roughly how much would it be to supply & fit 6 speed box, lsd, m400 linkage
that and then the roush engine pacakge on that car and you'd have a pretty nice car ( i personally think the colour with the alloys looks stunning)

if you could get it cheaper than 23k then it might make sense... as its low mileage it might make a good donor car as it were

To change diff the gearbox needs to be out (often needing to be sent to quaife to fit). This either involves removing the engine or cutting a bar and weldng it back or making it a removable part. If my box ever has to come out again I will be going with the bar option. This is cheaper by about 1k ( the 1st time and cheaper still if it ever needs doing again).

What do you mean by "the Roush engine package"?

possibly the wrong terminology but i refer to the popular Roush exhaust + remap + fuel pump wiring + upgraded intercooler
