Does anyone else think that the position of the Exige battery is a little more than an after thought? I could understand if it weighed the same as a laptop battery, but having best part of 10kgs up high surely doesn't make any sense.

I'm going to swap it for a lighter battery, any ideas?

Oh, but I do love the car, its my first Lotus!

I had one of these in mine, you've got to keep it conditioned though so best to get a trickle charger too.

The whole battery THING in the Lotus Elise is crap and yes it is an after thought,in fact I don't think they thought at all.It is the archilles heal of the Lotus,I love my Lotus S2 but I bloody well think the battery set up is st.I have never come across a car where you have to give the battery sooo much attention.I know this is mainly down to the alarm system that drains it within what seems sometimes within 24 hours. No,it's not a very good system at all.
