hmmm...

can remember that advert and remember knowing it was Fat Lucy singing as well. I remember saying I thought Jussi Björling was a better tenor than any of the 'three' tenors who were so well known at the time of the Pirelli advert.

Also remember the ensuing argument lasting until (well after) chucking out time in the Hampshire Hog on King Street in Hammersmith when myself and a colleague (chubby girl, very gay, extra shouty, ace designer) said that if any car could save the world it would be a Lamborghini.

We weren't wrong about that then and we still aren't...

Jussi Björling was a better singer than the 'three', by a long chalk and was acknowledged as such by them all, especially Pavarotti who on being compared to Björling said, "please... I'm only human!"

but even better...

I remember it well as it inspired me to get my red/cream anniversary countach a few years after that ad. (was every penny I owned in the world).

The ad combined a red coutach, beautiful woman, and Nussun Dorma all rolled into one. I loved it.

Where's that car you bought these days Pete?

Too many 25°s ended up as garage dollies whilst their owners waited on the day they were worth millions of something but ended up with the cars going rotten from a lack of proper use... cry
